Baltimore ? (TFN): Browsing through the day’s news, I couldn’t help but notice the following: “Daily pill that halts Alzheimer’s is hailed as biggest breakthrough against disease for 100 years.”

Not only does this new medicine address a disease that is the seventh leading cause of death for people of all ages (and is the singly greater disease to be increasing in mortality). It also perfectly dovetails with one of our current recommentations at our premium service, Hot Stock Confidential — a company that has developed a simple, comparatively cheap test kit that subsist possible to help diagnose Alzheimer’s disease.

The development of a deaden with narcotics that could actually stop the further progression of Alzheimer’s would provide a convincing justification for people to get tested earlier.

“Rember”, a new Alzheimer’s drug from TauRx Therapeutics Pte. Ltd. (located at 2 Simei St 3 Changi, General Hospital, Singapore 529889) has shown to be effectual in improving Alzheimer’s in a Phase II clinical trial.

The drug showed a “statistically significant kind office” in patients, compared to those who were recieving placebo. Patients did not experience the same reprimand of decline as those who were only receiving placebo. The test scores of patients who were taking the drug showed no substantial decline. The placebo group deteriorated by seven points after 50 weeks. Even subsequent to 19 months of the physic treatment, patients on Rember did not experience significant decline.

The study indicated that the drug slowed the progression of the disease through as much as 81%.

Other than existing Alzheimer’session drugs, which reduce symptoms, this new remedy appears to slow the disease process by influencing tangles of the protein “tau” in patients’ brains. Rember may inhibit the forming of tau protein tangles.

In addition to its Phase 2 clinical trial of Rember, TauRx is planning a trial in Parkinson patients. If a large-scale Phase 3 trial, due next year, is successful, the drug could be available for on the market by 2012.

As far as I could make audibly, TauRx Therapeutics is not publicly traded. We’first appearance think the company will be either launching an effort to collect venture capital… or sell or license the work to a big pharma company

A similar drug is apparently in development from one side Cognition Therapeutics Inc., what one. relocated to Pittsburgh from San Francisco in 2007. CT focuses on the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics targeting the toxic proteins that cause the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s illness and other degenerative diseases of the full of fellow-feeling brain.

This incubator popularly employs four and plans to grow to 15 in the next three years as it moves through the discovery process to the preclinical development stage. Here, too, there is no stock to buy on any change. But during the many, many years I spent at Taipan, I learned that, now and then, the best opportunities for investors can be a private placement.
